Strive Discloses Additional Bitcoin Purchases, Holdings Reach 36,818 BTC

Published

on

Strive reported acquiring approximately 1,223 BTC for roughly $100 million between October 14 and 16, 2026, at an average price near $81,734, bringing its total holdings to 36,818 BTC, according to an SEC Form 8-K filing disclosed on October 19. The purchase adds to 2,822 BTC acquired earlier in the week, for a combined weekly total of 4,045 BTC at an average of about $82,803 per coin.

The disclosure aligned with continued corporate treasury activity even as some analysts noted more selective buying compared with the 2025 boom period. Strive, which ranks as one of the largest publicly traded corporate Bitcoin holders (fourth-largest by some tallies), has expanded its treasury significantly through 2026 via preferred stock offerings, warrant exercises, and other capital-markets activity. The latest addition comes ahead of settlement of its SATS preferred stock offering, which was priced to raise roughly $630 million before expenses and is expected to settle on October 20. CEO Matt Cole has previously outlined ambitions to grow the firm’s position further among top corporate holders.

Together with Strategy’s concurrent purchases of 267 BTC, the moves reinforced institutional and corporate demand supporting Bitcoin’s ability to hold above the $80,000–$82,000 zone during the session. Strive’s holdings now sit near $3 billion at recent prices, with the company also maintaining cash reserves and preferred equity structures to support ongoing accumulation and dividend obligations. The activity underscores sustained corporate interest in Bitcoin as a treasury asset amid recent price volatility.

Strive’s filing confirmed the average purchase price inclusive of fees and expenses, and the company continues to position itself among the leading public Bitcoin treasuries alongside Strategy, Metaplanet, and others.

Mt. Gox Extends Creditor Repayment Deadline to October 2027

Published

on

The rehabilitation trustee for the collapsed Mt. Gox exchange pushed the creditor repayment deadline to October 31, 2027, with Tokyo court approval. A notice dated October 16 from trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi extended the previous October 31, 2026 deadline by one year. Many creditors have still not completed the required procedures, while others have encountered processing issues that prevented payments.

Base repayments, early lump-sum repayments, and intermediate repayments have largely been completed for eligible creditors who finished the necessary steps and experienced no problems. The extension covers these three repayment categories under the rehabilitation plan. This is the fourth annual one-year extension since the original 2023 deadline. Repayments began in July 2024 through intermediaries including Kraken, Bitstamp, and BitGo, with more than 19,500 creditors reported as having received distributions by March 2025.

Wallets linked to the estate continue to hold approximately 34,388 BTC (roughly $2.8 billion at current prices), according to blockchain analytics data. The remaining balance has been relatively stable in recent months, with no major transfers reported since June. Analysts view the outstanding supply as limited relative to today’s Bitcoin liquidity and trading volumes, and no longer a major market overhang compared with earlier stages of the process when larger amounts were still pending.

The original rehabilitation plan covered roughly 142,000 BTC, 143,000 BCH, and ¥69 billion in cash. The latest delay provides additional time to complete remaining distributions where practicable, further postponing any potential incremental supply from the estate.
