Solana Sets Record with Over 263,000 New Tokens Minted in a Single Day

Published

on

Solana just printed more tickers in a day than most chains print in a year.

On-chain explorers put more than 263,000 new SPL tokens on the ledger in a single 24-hour window this week — 263,151 in one widely cited Solscan cut. Cointelegraph dated the record to Wednesday, September 9. Other write-ups said September 10. The number is the story either way. Late-2024 meme season topped out around 40,000–50,000 new tokens a day. This print is roughly five to six times that peak. The broader crypto market cap was not ripping higher on the same tape. Issuance and price diverged. That is the tell.

Pump.fun still runs the factory floor — but not the whole mint

Launchpads accounted for 40,360 of those tokens, per Blockworks. Pump.fun did 34,184, about 85% of the launchpad slice. That is dominance inside a subset. It is not 85% of 263,000. The other ~220,000 SPL mints happened off the branded pads: scripts, forks, failed experiments, vanity mints, tools that spin a mint address because the rent is cheap. Counting every InitializeMint as a “coin launch” inflates the carnival. Most of those tokens will never have a pool, a holder count that matters, or a second candle.

The pad that does convert mints into fees is still Pump. DefiLlama had it at about $1.8 million of protocol revenue in the surrounding 24 hours, first among Solana-native apps that day. Fomo, the social-feed trading app, had briefly taken the daily-revenue crown last Friday. The crown moved back. In Q1 2026 Pump was already about $124 million of Solana’s $342 million in application revenue — a third of the chain’s take — even after the 2024 mania cooled. Cheap blockspace plus a one-click mint UI is a business model. It is also a pollution model.

What the record actually measures

Throughput and fees, not quality. Transaction v1 just raised the packet size to 4,096 bytes. That helps proofs and fat multisigs. It does not decide whether the 263,001st dog coin should exist. Solana’s pitch this cycle has been two-handed: Bitwise’s BSOL crossing $1 billion AUM, RWA holder counts toward 400,000, and a meme casino that never closed. The record is the second hand slamming the table.

One day’s app revenue near $5 million across Solana — some coverage put the chain 50% ahead of BNB on that print — is the adult number next to the mint count. Fees paid are demand. Tokens created are supply of ticker inventory. Those two series only rhyme when someone is still buying the inventory.

The hangover is already in the design

Almost none of 263,000 tokens will graduate, list, or survive a week. Liquidity is a handful of bonding curves and a lot of zero-bid graves. That is how Pump works: the house takes the launch tax; the long tail dies. Solana “dominates token creation” in the same way a photocopier dominates document creation. True. Not a compliment by itself.

If the next 263,000-day arrives with SOL bidless and Pump revenue rolling over, the record was a clog. If fees stay fat while BTC chops under $80,000, the casino is the product and the ETF is the costume. This week Solana did both in public: a record mint day and a chain that still collects millions while the rest of the market argues about payrolls. High-throughput, low-cost issuance is working exactly as advertised. Whether that is a feature or a warning depends on how many of those 263,000 names you would still open a chart for on Monday.

TOKEN2049 Opens in Singapore Next Week as the City Leads Regional Crypto Flow

Published

on

TOKEN2049 runs October 7–8 at Marina Bay Sands. Organisers expect more than 25,000 people, from more than 7,000 companies and about 160 countries, with 300-plus speakers and 500-plus exhibitors. More than 60% of the floor is billed as C-level. The conference takes all five floors of the complex. A private institutional gathering on October 8 is capped at about 200 senior leaders, by approval.

The timing is the point. Chainalysis, in the year to June, put Singapore at $284 billion in crypto activity, up 55.4%, and back at the top of Central and Southeast Asia and Oceania while the region contracted 6.8%. Most of that jump was institutional-platform flow, up 94% to $60 billion, sitting with market makers, OTC desks and brokerages. TOKEN2049 is landing in the city that already routes that book. Co-founder Alex Fiskum said the Dubai edition has moved to 2027, so this year’s focus is Singapore. More than 70% of the exhibition floor was already taken when that was said.

The speaker list matches the split. Shayne Coplan of Polymarket, Jeff Yan of Hyperliquid, Balaji Srinivasan, Richard Teng of Binance and Joseph Lubin of Consensys sit next to Adena Friedman of Nasdaq, Jenny Johnson of Franklin Templeton and names from BlackRock, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, the NYSE and CME. Eric Trump is on the card for World Liberty Financial. The side calendar is the rest of the week: Digital Asset Summit Asia, Sui Basecamp, the Network State Conference, the Milken Institute Asia Summit, Forbes Global CEO, plus the Singapore Grand Prix. Origins, a 36-hour hackathon, and the NEXUS startup competition run with the main event.

Bitcoin was back near $86,000 early on October 2, up about 3% on the day in several prints, with ether near $2,750. Total crypto market capitalization was around $2.89 trillion in the early read and closer to $2.94 trillion in later CoinMarketCap snapshots, after a short squeeze and a return of spot-bitcoin ETF inflows. Dominance sat near 59%. That is a bounce off the mid-$83,000s, not a new high. The October 2025 peak was about $126,000.

A conference does not move the peg. What it does is put the institutional pipe and the retail app in the same building for two days, in the jurisdiction that just reclaimed the regional activity lead. The announcements that matter will be the ones that survive the flight home.
